The client brief:

The JWT Finance team asked us to organise a charitable team building event to combine the learning of new skills with ‘giving something back’.

Our solution:

We developed and delivered a cookery event with a twist…the twist being that the team served up the fruit of their labours to the residents of the Salvation Army homeless hostel in Whitechapel, East London.

The hostel is a male only property which helps short term and long term homeless get back on their feet.

The finer details:

JWT turned up at the shelter at 3pm and prepared the following menu to dish out to the residents before cleaning up the kitchen and dining area afterwards:

  • Smoked Haddock and chive fish cakes with home-made mayonnaise and watercress
  • Chicken ballontines stuffed with sultanas and almonds
  • On root vegetable puree, roasted potatoes and sage infused jus
  • Seasonal Fruit meringues

The client feedback:

“Everyone had a very good day and found it very rewarding. It is definitely something we would do again… It was a really great idea and all of our staff came away very proud of their achievement and felt as though they had learnt something new.”
